New Construction Glazing for Seattle General Contractors

Herzog Glass provides commercial glass and glazing for new construction throughout Seattle, the greater Puget Sound, and Washington State. We partner with general contractors, construction managers, architects, and developers to furnish and install curtain walls, window walls, storefronts, entrances, skylights, and interior glass.

What we install

New Construction Glazing Systems

Curtain Wall and Window Wall

Herzog Glass installs curtain wall and window wall systems for commercial, mixed-use, institutional, and multifamily buildings.

Our scope may include anchors, aluminum framing, pressure plates, caps, insulated glass units, spandrel glass, perimeter seals, and other system components. We coordinate closely with the general contractor, architect, structural engineer, manufacturers, and adjacent trades to address openings, embeds, tolerances, transitions, sequencing, and building-envelope requirements.

Storefronts and Entrances

We furnish and install storefront framing, entrance doors, vestibules, sidelites, transoms, and all-glass entry systems for retail, office, institutional, and mixed-use buildings.

Entrance systems can include manual doors, automatic door operators, revolving doors, electrified hardware, access-control components, panic hardware, and custom configurations. We coordinate the glazing and entrance scope with electrical, security, flooring, waterproofing, and finish trades as required.

Skylights and Overhead Glazing

Herzog Glass installs skylights, atrium glazing, sloped glazing, glass canopies, and other overhead systems.

These installations require careful coordination of structural support, drainage, glass specifications, sealants, transitions, access, and installation sequencing. Our team works with the project’s design and construction teams to integrate the glazing system with the surrounding building envelope.

Interior Glass Systems

We coordinate interior installation with framing, ceilings, flooring, millwork, electrical work, access-control systems, and other finish trades.

Our interior glazing work includes office fronts, conference rooms, glass partitions, interior doors and sidelites, all-glass entrances, mirrors, glass railings and guards, decorative and specialty glass, and interior architectural metal associated with glazing systems.

Specialty Architectural Glass

Herzog Glass also installs custom glazing systems that require specialized glass, hardware, engineering, or installation methods. These applications may include structural glass, oversized units, decorative glass, back-painted glass, security glazing, acoustic glazing, and high-performance thermal glass.

How it runs

How Herzog Manages a New Construction Project

Preconstruction and Scope Review

Our team reviews the architectural drawings, specifications, addenda, schedules, and glazing details to define the scope and identify system requirements. Depending on the project, we may assist with budgeting, constructability, product selection, and material lead times.

Shop Drawings and Submittals

After award, we coordinate shop drawings, product data, glass samples, engineering information, hardware schedules, and other required submittals. This process confirms dimensions, glass types, framing systems, and installation details before materials are released.

Procurement and Fabrication

Herzog coordinates the purchase and production of glass, aluminum systems, doors, hardware, sealants, and other glazing materials. At our approximately 30,000-square-foot facility, we cut, edge, drill, paint, assemble, and prepare many glass, aluminum, and system components before they are delivered to the jobsite.

Planning and Field Installation

Before installation begins, we review site access, equipment requirements, delivery logistics, and installation sequencing. Our union glaziers complete the field installation under the direction of Herzog’s project management and field leadership teams.

Punch List and Closeout

As the work approaches completion, we inspect the installation, address punch-list items, and prepare required closeout documents. Our service division remains available after completion for warranty support, glass replacement, entrance repair, and ongoing maintenance.

Working with your schedule

Built for Commercial Construction Coordination

Glazing work is closely tied to structural progress, building dry-in, interior finishes, access, and material lead times. Delays or changing conditions in one part of the project can affect multiple phases of the glazing scope.

Herzog’s project managers track submittals, approvals, procurement, fabrication, deliveries, labor requirements, and installation progress. They work directly with the general contractor to coordinate the glazing schedule with changing jobsite conditions and the work of adjacent trades. Our field leaders and union glaziers understand the safety, documentation, communication, and production requirements of active commercial construction sites.

Certification

Quality Managed Through NACC Certification

North American Contractor Certification, certified architectural glass and metal contractor, certificate HEI01WA.

Herzog Glass was the first glazing contractor in Washington State to earn certification through the North American Contractor Certification program. NACC certification independently evaluates a glazing contractor’s quality-management systems, personnel qualifications, safety practices, and processes for architectural glass and metal work.

For new construction projects, these established procedures support submittal and document control, material verification and traceability, fabrication quality, installation inspections, nonconformance and corrective-action procedures, qualified project and field personnel, testing coordination, and project records and closeout documentation.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

When should Herzog become involved in a new construction project?

Early involvement is beneficial when a project requires budgeting, system evaluation, constructability input, or coordination of long-lead materials. Herzog can become involved during preconstruction, bidding, or after the glazing systems have been designed and specified.

Do you work directly with general contractors?

Yes. Most of our new construction work is performed under contract with a general contractor or construction manager. Our project team coordinates directly with the general contractor from preconstruction or award through closeout.

Can Herzog perform both exterior and interior glazing?

Yes. Many of our projects include exterior glazing, entrances, and interior glass. Combining these scopes with one glazing contractor can simplify submittals, procurement, project management, scheduling, and field coordination.

What glass performance requirements can you accommodate?

We install glazing systems with a wide range of thermal, solar, acoustic, structural, security, fire-rated, and safety-glazing requirements. The specific products and systems are selected and reviewed based on the project drawings, specifications, engineering, codes, and performance criteria.

Does Herzog manufacture the glass used on its projects?

Herzog fabricates and prepares many glass, aluminum, and glazing components at our facility. Tempered, laminated, insulated, coated, and specialty glass products are manufactured or processed by qualified suppliers. Our team coordinates those products as part of the complete glazing scope.
