Seattle’s Trade Glass Fabrication Partner

Herzog Glass provides custom glass fabrication for glazing contractors and commercial projects throughout the Puget Sound and Washington State. Our approximately 30,000-square-foot facility supports Herzog’s own projects and other glass companies that need additional capacity or specialized fabrication.

What we fabricate

Commercial Glass Fabrication

Cut-to-Size Glass

We cut glass to the dimensions required for storefronts, windows, doors, partitions, mirrors, tabletops, shelves, and other commercial applications. Our team can work from approved drawings, templates, verified dimensions, or existing pieces when appropriate.

Edgework and Finishing

Available fabrication services include polished edges and other finished-edge treatments for exposed glass applications.

Edgework is commonly required for interior glass panels, all-glass entrances, mirrors, shelves, tabletops, office fronts, glass partitions, railings, and decorative glass.

Holes, Notches, and Custom Shapes

We drill holes, produce notches, and create custom shapes for glass requiring hardware, fittings, access openings, or other project-specific details. All cutting, drilling, notching, and edgework must be completed before the glass is tempered. Our team reviews the fabrication requirements and coordinates tempering with a qualified glass manufacturer when required.

Mirrors and Interior Glass

Herzog fabricates mirrors and interior glass for commercial and residential applications, including custom mirrors and mirror walls, office fronts, conference rooms, glass partitions, interior doors and sidelites, cabinet and furniture glass, shelves and tabletops, and decorative glass components.

Back-Painted Glass

Herzog Glass uses OPACI-COAT-300 from ICD High Performance Coatings to produce custom back-painted glass in a broad range of colors.

Applications include wall panels, backsplashes, marker boards, cabinet inserts, interior partitions, decorative features, and spandrel applications where appropriate.

Custom and Specialty Fabrication

When a project requires an unusual size, shape, finish, opening, or glass configuration, our fabrication team can review the requirements and determine the appropriate production approach.

Some specialty products are fabricated at Herzog, while others require manufacturing or processing by qualified glass suppliers. We coordinate those outside processes when they are part of the fabrication order.

Trade customers

Fabrication for Other Glass Companies

Herzog Glass fabricates glass for other glazing contractors and glass shops that need additional production capacity, custom capabilities, or support with a specific project.

We understand that trade customers need accurate fabrication, clear communication, dependable scheduling, and careful handling. Our team works from the information provided by the customer and communicates questions before production begins.

Whether the order involves one custom piece or multiple units for a larger project, our goal is to provide glass that arrives ready for the next stage of installation.

Where it happens

Our Fabrication Facility

Herzog Glass operates an approximately 30,000-square-foot facility serving our commercial, residential, and service divisions as well as other glazing contractors.

Our in-house capabilities include glass cutting, edgework and polishing, drilling, notching, custom shapes, mirror fabrication, back-painted glass, glass preparation and inspection, and project staging and coordination.

Having fabrication, project management, and service operations in one facility allows questions to be addressed directly. If a dimension, drawing, or fabrication detail requires clarification, our team can resolve it before the glass proceeds through production.

Sending an order

Fabricated to Project Requirements

Accurate fabrication is important to efficient field installation. Incorrect dimensions, misplaced holes, or missing fabrication details can delay a project and require costly replacement glass.

Our team reviews the information provided for each order and fabricates the glass to the approved dimensions and details. Completed pieces are inspected before they leave our facility.

To help avoid production issues, fabrication orders should clearly identify finished dimensions, glass type and thickness, edgework, hole and notch locations, custom shapes, safety-glazing requirements, tempering or specialty processing, coatings, tint, and color requirements, and the required delivery or completion date.

What we do not make

Coordinating Tempered, Insulated, and Specialty Glass

Herzog does not manufacture tempered glass, laminated glass, insulated glass units, low-e glass, or other specialty glass products. These products are manufactured or processed by qualified vendors. When a project requires one of these products, our team can help identify the fabrication requirements and coordinate production. Depending on the product, Herzog may complete the necessary cutting, edgework, holes, or notches before sending the glass for tempering or other processing.

Insulated glass units and other products that must be manufactured as complete assemblies are ordered from the appropriate vendor and supplied to the required project specifications. This combination of in-house fabrication and established supplier relationships allows Herzog to provide a practical single point of coordination for a broad range of glass requirements.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you fabricate glass for other glazing contractors?

Yes. Herzog Glass provides trade fabrication for glazing contractors and glass shops as well as fabrication for our own commercial, residential, and service projects.

Does Herzog manufacture insulated glass units?

No. Insulated glass units are manufactured by qualified vendors. Herzog can document the required specifications, coordinate the order, and incorporate the completed units into a larger project or installation.

Does Herzog temper glass?

Herzog does not operate a tempering furnace. We complete the required cutting, edgework, drilling, and notching before coordinating tempering with a qualified vendor.

Can you fabricate from shop drawings?

Yes. We can work from approved shop drawings, fabrication drawings, templates, or verified dimensions. The information must clearly identify the finished dimensions, glass type, edgework, holes, notches, and other fabrication requirements.

Can you match a back-painted glass color?

Yes. We use OPACI-COAT-300, which is available in a broad range of colors. Colors can be selected from established standards or closely matched to paint colors, finishes, and material samples. We recommend approving a sample when color is critical.

Can you fabricate a single custom piece?

Yes. We handle individual custom pieces as well as larger project orders. The available options and lead time depend on the glass type and required fabrication.

What is the typical lead time?

Lead time depends on the glass type, quantity, fabrication requirements, specialty processing, vendor availability, and current production schedule. Send us the project information, and our team will provide an estimated completion date.
